2010 Hestan Vineyards San Francisco Bay Chardonnay
Thomas Rivers Brown's Hestan Chardonnay presents a round, rich mouthfeel and minerality with a surprising, refreshing acidity on the palate.
The unusually long, cool growing season of 2010 amplified our San Francisco Bay vineyard's minerality and stone fruit characters, providing winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown with the optimal ingredients for this focused Chardonnay that combines a rich, round mouthfeel with refreshing acidity on the palate.
San Francisco Bay
14 months in 50% new French oak and 50% used French oak
Hestan Vineyards Chardonnay is the exclusive bottling of proprietors Stanley and Helen Cheng’s 2-acre bay-front vineyard, planted at the mouth of the Napa River. The site’s unique coastal proximity reveals itself in the rich flavors and harmonious balance of Hestan Vineyards Chardonnay.
14 months in 50% new French Louis Latour and Francois Freres oak barrels
In the glass, the 2010 Hestan Vineyards Chardonnay has a slight haze to its golden yellow color, a testament to the unfined and unfiltered elevage. Aromatically, one can find lemon curd, vanilla and a slight hint of toasted oak. The mid-palate is textured without being heavy due to the crisp balancing acidity. Enjoyable by itself or with food, this Chardonnay should continue to improve in the bottle for many years.
Food Pairing Notes
