Hestan Vineyards’ 2014 Cabernet recently garnered an extraordinary 96-point review from Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate. These accolades are especially meaningful to winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and our vineyard team, as we take a very personal approach to every facet of wine making. Our goal is never to increase volume, but to build depth and character. Each of our limited-release wines offers a distinct personality. But we are particularly proud of this 2014 Cabernet.

Notes from Robert Parker: Hestan Vineyards’ 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which emanated from its 56 acres of Bordeaux varietals, is aged 20 months in new French oak and bottled without fining or filtration by proprietors Stanley and Helen Cheng. A beautiful set of aromatics consisting of white flowers, blueberries, blackcurrants and black cherries emerges from this opaque ruby/purple wine. The palate is flawless, with a seamless integration of acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood. It is full-bodied, rich and impressive.  Add to that its thrilling purity and length, and this is a top-notch, world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from Hestan. Drink it over the next 20-30 years.

Hestan Cabernet Sauvignon is the product of a “no holds barred” approach by Thomas Rivers Brown. He identifies not only the best blocks and rows, but the individual vines to be reserved for this 100% Cabernet blend. In the cellar, these small lots are kept separate, vinified individually and reassessed at each step in the winemaking process.

Situated on the eastern slopes of the Vaca Mountain range in Napa Valley, the Hestan Estate is planted with 110 acres of both older and younger vine blocks. As the younger blocks approach full maturity, they have proven to outshine the older blocks and produce wines with notable depth, complexity and a vivacity that is unmatched anywhere else on the property. These young blocks have truly come into their own with the 2014 vintage, which we believe offers a taste of what’s possible in the years to come.

The 2014 Hestan Cabernet Sauvignon will be made available to the Hestan Wine Club in October 2017.
